experiencing a career renaissance thanks to Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which is allowing both fans (and the actor himself) to go back and consider those films he made back when he was a star the first time around. There’s been a lot of talk about Fraser’s time with The Mummy franchise, but the actor took a recent opportunity in the San Francisco bay area to apologize for something that went wrong while filming George of the Jungle, and in doing so made a brand new error. Fraser recently attended the Mill Valley Film Festival (via SFGate) where The Whale was set to be screened.

Brendan Fraser Apologizes to San Francisco for ‘George of the Jungle’ Traffic Jam, 25 Years Later: ‘My Bad. It Won’t Happen Again’

Zack Sharf Brendan Fraser’s awards season with “The Whale” continued over the weekend at the Mill Valley Film Festival, where he was on hand for a screening of the film and to accept the annual event’s lifetime achievement award. Speaking to SFGATE on the red carpet (via Entertainment Weekly), Fraser issued a humorous apology to the city of San Francisco due to a traffic jam the “George of the Jungle” production caused over 25 years ago. Mill Valley is about 14 miles north of San Francisco. “When we were doing ‘George of the Jungle,’ George goes to rescue a parachutist tangled in the Golden Gate Bridge,” Fraser said, citing the Golden Gate Bridge instead of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge which was featured in the film. “That means Disney put a mannequin hanging by a parachute from the uprights. It brought traffic to a standstill on either side of the bridge.”

Detectives Arrest Former Gay Pornstar in 2010 Murder Case

Twelve years after a murder in South Florida, detectives said they’ve identified a gay pornography model as the chief suspect in the killing. In August 2010, Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a man, 31-year-old Alfred “Chad” McMurray, dead from a gunshot wound at his residence in Oakland Park, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. They failed to locate a clear suspect at the time.On Friday, however, the office published an announcement saying that in May, “new information led homicide investigators to identify a possible suspect.”That person is Aaron Michael Dobbins, a 52-year-old Tampa resident who previously acted in gay pornography under the name “Trace Michaels.” According to the BSO statement, investigators obtained a search warrant for Dobbins’ DNA and matched it with forensic evidence found under McMurray’s fingernails at the crime scene 12 years ago.“Investigators said based on the information gathered and evidence collected in this case, they believe Dobbins is responsible for the murder,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement.Detectives claimed in an arrest report that McMurray’s truck, along with some personal items, had been stolen from the murder scene.

Bob Dylan singing his 1963 classic ‘Blowin’ In The Wind‘ has sold at auction for £1.48million ($1.78million).The re-recording, which sits on a one-of-one Ionic Original format disc, has marked the first time in 60 years that Dylan has re-recorded the song that was written in 1962 and released as part of the 1963 album ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’.Today’s (July 7) live bidding at Christie’s in London topped out at £1.2million, reports Variety, but an official release sent out by the auction house cited the higher price including commissions. The price was well over the estimate the auction house had posted for the recording, which was in the range of £600,000 ($716,000) to £1million pounds ($1.19million).First announced in April by producer T Bone Burnett, the Ionic Original format used for the re-recorded Dylan track is “lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a spiral etched into it by music. This painting, however, has the additional quality of containing that music, which can be heard by putting a stylus into the spiral and spinning it”.Burnett has touted the new high fidelity format as “the pinnacle of recorded sound.
