Actress Emma Rigby, who originally appeared in Hollyoaks as Hannah Ashworth from 2005 to 2010, has resigned from the soap following her high profile return last year. According to The Sun, Emma has quit after producers decided to drastically reduce the number of cast members and the number of episodes. When Emma returned to the series in November 2023, Hollyoaks aired five nights a week, but now there will be just three 20 minute episodes per week and a reduced cast and crew as 135 staff have lost their jobs.

Hollyoaks legend Stephanie Waring was left in floods of tears after saying goodbye to her character Cindy Cunnigham, after 28 years on the soap.The 46-year-old took to her Instagram to share a candid message on how she was feeling, having to say goodbye to some of the crew she had worked with for 16 years this week. “Today I had to say goodbye to some crew members that I’ve been working with for the last 16 years, and known for the last 28 years. It just hit me like a thunderbolt,” the soap star told her followers with noticeable tears in her eyes.
