EXCLUSIVE: FilmRise has acquired all North American distribution rights to New Zealand drama The Justice of Bunny King, starring Essie Davis (The Babadook) and Jojo Rabbit, Last Night in Soho and The Power of the Dog actress Thomasin McKenzie.
Gaysorn Thavat’s feature film directorial debut follows the story of a mother who tries to battle her way back from the bottom to regain custody of her children. Emma Slade produced from a script by Sophie Henderson.
The film had its worldwide premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival where it received the Special Jury Mention for the Nora Ephron Award. The film was an Official Selection at the 2021 Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Melbourne International Film Festival, and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards where Essie Davis was nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress award.
The deal was negotiated by Katie Carroll, Manager, Independent Film Acquisitions for FilmRise and Jonathan Walik, International Sales Executive for Protagonist.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters have unveiled details of a new, North American tour today (February 17).The Imposters are comprised of Steve Nieve (keyboards), Pete Thomas (drums) and Davey Faragher (bass/backing vocals).
Belgian pop artist Stromae is heading over to the United States in April to play Coachella 2022, his first American show in ages. North American fans won't have to head to Indio, California to see him perform this year, though: starting in October, Stromae will perform nine additional dates in the United States and Canada, including three in Quebec.

When she reads an advertisement for a screenplay contest, Leonor begins tinkering with an unfinished script about a young man avenging his brother’s murder at the hand of thugs.But after a falling television knocks her unconscious and sends her into a coma, Leonor finds herself inside her incomplete movie, re-writing and editing on the fly in a fantastical bid to complete the film while her body lies in limbo.
Modest Mouse have announced a new North American tour with The Cribs, due to take place this spring.The two bands have long had a link, with the Wakefield trio recruiting the Portland band’s Joe Plummer to add some percussion to some tracks in 2007. Later, in 2008, Johnny Marr completed his touring duties with Modest Mouse and left the line-up to join The Cribs, with whom he played for three years.Now the groups are hitting the road together for a number of gigs across North America, which will begin in Baltimore in April.
