Foo Fighters add 10 new dates to 2022 North American tour

Foo Fighters have announced a new Australian and New Zealand stadium tour, set to take place later this year.The new dates across the two countries will mark the band’s first full headline tour in the area since 2018.As teased by frontman Dave Grohl on stage in Geelong on Friday night (March 4), Foo Fighters will make their return to Australia and New Zealand in November and December 2022 for six stadium shows. The run will kick off in Perth on November 30, before continuing on to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Wellington and Auckland.Along the way, the US band will be joined by Australian and New Zealand support acts including The Chats, Teenage Joans, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Amyl And The Sniffers, and Dick Move.

Dave Grohl has praised Billie Eilish for starting what he calls a rock’n’roll “revolution”.The Foo Fighters frontman said in a new interview that rock music is a “different game” now for younger acts but is certainly still relevant, after a line from his band’s new horror-comedy film Studio 666 touched upon the “rock is dead” trope.The Independent quoted a line that Jeff Garlin’s character says in the movie about the current music climate (“Rock’n’roll, it hasn’t been relevant for a long time”).“Well, I think you have to define ‘relevant’,” Grohl responded. “It’s hard for us to say that rock’n’roll is in a rough patch, because we get up on stage and there’ll be thousands of people fucking going bananas and singing along to our songs.”But he acknowledged that there’s been a shift in how rock music is received.

Foo Fighters have shared a red band trailer for their upcoming new horror movie, Studio 666 – check it out below.Directed by BJ McDonnell, the upcoming “horror-comedy” will come to cinemas across the UK and Ireland on February 25 via Sony Pictures UK. It follows Dave Grohl and co as they move into a mansion in Encino, California that is “steeped in grisly rock and roll history” to record a new album.Once they arrive, however, frontman Grohl “finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band”.In the new trailer, Grohl tries to introduce the latest teaser for the film, but ends up stumbling over his words in an expletive-laden rant.“‘Studio 666’ is gonna FUCK YOU UP!” the whole band shout, before the trailer begins in earnest.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters have unveiled details of a new, North American tour today (February 17).The Imposters are comprised of Steve Nieve (keyboards), Pete Thomas (drums) and Davey Faragher (bass/backing vocals).

Belgian pop artist Stromae is heading over to the United States in April to play Coachella 2022, his first American show in ages. North American fans won't have to head to Indio, California to see him perform this year, though: starting in October, Stromae will perform nine additional dates in the United States and Canada, including three in Quebec.

Modest Mouse have announced a new North American tour with The Cribs, due to take place this spring.The two bands have long had a link, with the Wakefield trio recruiting the Portland band’s Joe Plummer to add some percussion to some tracks in 2007. Later, in 2008, Johnny Marr completed his touring duties with Modest Mouse and left the line-up to join The Cribs, with whom he played for three years.Now the groups are hitting the road together for a number of gigs across North America, which will begin in Baltimore in April.

Ringo Starr is set to return to the road with his All-Starr Band in mid-2022, touring North America for the first time in nearly three years.Joining Starr on the road will be long-serving guitarist Steve Lukather of Toto, saxophonist Warren Ham, bassist Hamish Stuart and drummer Gregg Bissonette.Men At Work‘s Colin Hay is also set to participate in the tour, providing guitar and vocals, as is a returning Edgar Winter. The prolific musician – who provides keyboards, saxophone and backing vocals – has not performed with the All-Starr Band since 2011.

Foo Fighters are set to perform a VR concert after this week’s Super Bowl Sunday.The group will perform what’s described as an “immersive 180-degree VR concert” on Facebook, now termed Meta, after the game this week. Slowthai has announced a slate of dates for a brief North American tour. The Antisocial Roadshow tour is a seven-show run that kicks off in New York City on April 8 and will make stops in Toronto, Chicago, Denver, and San Francisco before concluding in Boston on April 30.

Slowthai will return to North America later this year for a run of headlining shows in the leadup to his performances at Coachella 2022.The tour, announced earlier this week (January 31), will commence in early April with a performance at New York’s Webster Hall.
