The body language of King Charles suggests his true feelings amid his cancer diagnosis, according to a specialist. His evidently "delighted" and "endearing" public appearances are said to indicate his underlying thoughts as he strives to stay accessible during his medical treatment.
In February, the monarch shared the news that he had been diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer and is now receiving treatment. Although he continues to perform state duties behind cloistered palace walls, public-related responsibilities have temporarily been put off.
Despite this, the head of state remains discernible to the citizens and has regularly been seen in the State Bentley travelling from his London residence, Clarence House, to Buckingham Palace.
These trips are typically for private meetings, including with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Photographs taken on Wednesday, 10 April and over the past few weeks show the King looking joyous and beaming, waving at the gathering tourists on his brief drives.
Although these are fleeting presentations, body language expert Judi James feels that it shows the "very new, blossoming love affair between Charles and his public since his cancer diagnosis". Judi shared with the Mirror that Charles "has never been a populist royal and at times the bonds between himself and the public have been at breaking point".
She explains this is due to his divorced from Diana to then marrying one of the "world's most controversial and, at one stage, most unpopular women."
