Hojlund went 1,000 minutes without a goal but only had to wait another 26 before finding his long-awaited breakthrough. He swept home a first-time effort after pouncing on a fortunate John McGinn ricochet to contrast a first-half effort.
Midway through the first period, Hojlund had tried to take a touch from a cross that needed to be hit first time and his chance of scoring was snuffed out. His snap reaction for his winner is a lesson in taking any half-opening he gets in Premier League football.
These have been hard to come by thanks to the poor service Hojlund has received and at one point the striker was late arriving for a Garnacho cross due to being involved in the build-up play himself as he attempted to get things moving. His strike came when he was already in a scoring position, maybe hinting at the way forward for the Dane.
