An expert mechanic has warned drivers that failing to turn off one common car feature before you set off could be really damaging to your vehicle.
Scotty Kilmer has been in the industry for over 50 years and uses his expertise to create helpful YouTube videos for anyone struggling with car repairs, or just looking for advice in general.

He said: “Most of the wear on your engine occurs when you start the car. The oil at the bottom of the engine, the oil pump has to spin, pump the oil to the top of the engine, and start lubricating.
“Every time you shut the car off the oil goes back down, it’s got to be pumped back up again. Do you really want to be starting and stopping your car all the time?”
Cars have had the stop-start function since the 70s and it was designed to prevent the engine from running when the vehicle is standing still.
It's claimed that it helps the vehicle to stay more eco-friendly and improves fuel economy, but it tends to only work when the car's battery is charged to a certain level.
Scotty advised that drivers can disable the start-stop feature by hitting the small dashboard button that looks like an 'A' with a circle around it.
“By law you can’t turn it off from the way it was built from the factory permanently so every time you start the car you have to push the off button for the automatic stop start, then the light will come on", he said.
“But every time you shut off the car,
