It’s hard to believe Manchester was once home to a restaurant where you could get your hands on a pizza for just 1p.
The MEN recently wrote an article about Pizzaland and its “pizza for a penny” scheme in the 1980s. Discount coupons were printed in newspapers for people to cut out and take to their local Pizzaland, which included branches in Deansgate and on Mosley Street.

One reader commented beneath the article: “I found some of the 1p vouchers in an old holdall last year. I didn't know they had gone out of business and my wife had never heard of Pizzaland.”
