A mum who was stabbed 27 times by her husband, in front of their two young children, says that every day is a 'struggle'.
Adil Butt was sentenced to a hospital order earlier this week, following the 'frenzied and vicious' attack at their family home in Crumpsall. The 34-year-old stabbed his wife of 12 years, as she fixed a vacuum at the top of the stairs, next to their kids, aged three and four.
Grabbing a large kitchen knife that she had been using, he inflicted 27 separate wounds to the front of her neck, several more to the sides of her neck, head, back and defensive wounds on her hands as she battled to stop him. In a victim personal statement, the woman described the hell that she has gone through since the incident.

She described the attack as the 'worst day of her life' as she believed she was going to die, before explaining how hard the incident had been on their children. "I don't know why he did what he did – only God knows," the victim said.
"I can't sleep. I have nightmares thinking about why this happened.
"It's a struggle every day for me – mentally, emotionally and physically. But I have to live for my children and I can't lose hope."
Butt lied to the emergency services after his wife called for an ambulance, telling the control room that she had stabbed herself and he’d tried to stop her from taking her own life following the attack at 1pm on 27 January, 2020.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, however, following a five-day trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the jury found him guilty of attempted murder in October 2021.
