Michael Moon drove to the 67-year-old victim's house in Widnes armed with a large kitchen knife, a court heard. He briefly spoke to her through the window of the vehicle, before getting out and repeatedly knifing her in the head and upper body, Cheshire Live reports.
Moon, 39, continued to attack his helpless victim even after she fell to the floor. He then walked back to this vehicle and shouted that he would 'run the victim over' before he turned and threw the knife at her which became lodged into her shoulder.

As the victim began crawling along the pavement in an attempt to escape, Moon drove towards her, mounting the pavement, as he tried to run her over. Despite the severity of her injuries, the victim managed to move out of the path of his vehicle.
Moon then fled the scene driving at speeds of 134mph. Local residents at the scene on Tabley Avenue came to the victim's assistance and gave her life-saving first aid.
She was rushed to Aintree Hospital after the attack on June 4, where she underwent further lifesaving emergency surgery. A manhunt was launched, and Moon, of Rope House Walk, Cherry Sutton, was arrested later that night in Widnes.
He was subsequently charged with attempted murder. He pleaded guilty to the offence and also to possession of a bladed article when he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, September 5.
