Halsey to star in upcoming A24 film ‘MaXXXine’

Do you folks remember, not that long ago, during Star Wars Celebration, when Kathleen Kennedy told the press that Kevin Feige was never really attached to a “Star Wars” film and it was just the fandom that made it all up? She actually said, “We never discussed an idea,” and basically, gaslit everyone into thinking it was all a rumor. Of course, we know that’s not true because Feige talked about it, Michael Waldron talked about being hired to write a script, and now, we have the Russo Brothers, who not only confirm that Feige was working on a “Star Wars” film with Lucasfilm but that they were discussing possibly signing on to direct.

X trilogy MaXXXine, the production company has revealed.The A24 slasher is a sequel to West’s films X and Pearl, which were released last year and are currently streaming on Hulu, Apple TV, and Roku.The film will take place in the 1980s, as Mia Goth reprises her role as X survivor Maxine Minx – a burlesque dancer and adult film actress who had goals of being a star in Hollywood, after the horrific events from the 2022 film.Starring alongside the Emma actress will be Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon. At last weekend’s Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy revealed three new “Star Wars” movies in the pipeline.  Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will direct a film that centers around Daisy Ridley‘s Rey; Dave Filoni has a film that culminates “The Mandalorian” and its connected Disney+ series; and James Mangold will helm “Dawn Of The Jedi,” about the birth of the Jedi order 25,000 years ago.

Lucasfilm Animation is still churning out animated series set in the “Star Wars.” Even though landmark shows like “Stars Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels” have ended, they’ve expanded the mythology and introducing fans to brand new characters that have made the jump to live-action. Their current efforts include anthology projects “Star Wars: Visions” and “Tales of The Jedi” covering various eras of the franchise alongside the episodic show “The Bad Batch.” The latter is in it’s second season that debuted earlier this year taking place after the events of “The Clone Wars” and there is a bit of an update of the streaming show’s future.
