Prior to this year’s Star Wars Celebration event, folks were anticipating quite a bit of TV news, as well as the possibility that Lucasfilm would announce one new film. Well, we definitely got that, but even more, as the studio unveiled details about not one, but three new “Star Wars” films from directors Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold, respectively.

Explain This” video) that “I was in more than talks to join the ‘Star Wars’ universe. I joined the ‘Star Wars’ universe and was asked to leave.” Ouch.Still, Lindelof admits that he would still be up for tackling a story set in a galaxy far, far away. “Will I get back in line outside the club and try to get back in again? Absolutely,” Lindelof says in the video posted Friday.
Damon Lindelof is in the limelight yet again thanks to the success of his most recent TV show, “Mrs. Davis,” on Peacock now.

James Mangold‘s “Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny” will have its world premiere next month at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18: a prestige showing for a prestige franchise. Or what was once a prestige franchise? Fifteen years after 2008’s “Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Cyrstal Skull,” it’s hard to tell how much cultural caché Lucasfilm‘s storied series still has.
“Yellowstone” star Lainey Wilson is just as confused as everybody else about whether or not the hit show will end after season 5.
Josh Broadwell Five years after the end of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” Cal Kestis’ friends are scattered across the galaxy dealing with their own demons, while the young Jedi Knight runs guerrilla strikes against key Imperial targets. Reality tore his dreams of resistance into tatters of resentment, and he’s left trying to find a purpose for his life in “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” — a journey of surprises that improves on the original in every way. However, like Cal himself, it still falls short of its full potential. Cal’s story takes some unpredictable turns that end in intriguing possibilities for a third game. Much like the hero, developer Respawn Entertainment recognizes that it has little recourse against the Empire and its entrenched position in the galaxy and “Star Wars” canon, so both turn inward instead. Cal still fights the Imperials when he can, but “Survivor” is less about making a difference against an oppressive Empire and more about finding a place to call home.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is hours away from release, and it has already been cited as “the best Star Wars game in 20 years”. The open-world action-adventure video game set in a galaxy far, far away is coming to consoles and PC on Friday (April 28) and marks one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year.
Decades after he first broke out with “Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels,” film fans probably think they know what a Guy Ritchie film is going to look and feel like. Well, when you bring Jake Gyllenhaal into the equation, Ritchie throws all of those preconceived notions out of the window, and you end up with “The Covenant,” a no-nonsense war film about a life-altering debt and the lengths someone will go to shed a curse, of sorts.

At last weekend’s Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy revealed three new “Star Wars” movies in the pipeline. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will direct a film that centers around Daisy Ridley‘s Rey; Dave Filoni has a film that culminates “The Mandalorian” and its connected Disney+ series; and James Mangold will helm “Dawn Of The Jedi,” about the birth of the Jedi order 25,000 years ago.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director One of the biggest announcements to emerge out of Star Wars Celebration was the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey in a new movie that will follow the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which concluded the most recent Skywalker trilogy in 2019. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) is directing the still-untitled Rey movie from a script by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said at the fan convention that Ridley’s new “Star Wars” movie will follow Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order, but the executive teased a bit more about the plot in an interview with IGN: “Star Wars” fans will pick up with Rey well over a decade after “The Rise of Skywalker.”
Disney+’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch will end its run after one more season, which will air in 2024. The Season 3 renewal for the animated series was announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 Monday by executive producers Brad Rau, Jennifer Corbett, and Athena Portillo.
When most “Star Wars” fans think of Lucasfilm‘s slate of new Disney+ series, big names come to mind: “The Mandalorian,” Tony Gilroy‘s “Andor,” the upcoming “Ahsoka.” But critics love another series that’s more under the radar: “Star Wars: Visions.” The animated anthology series allows anime studios from around the world to reimagine “Star Wars” lore as they see fit in a variety of shorts.

Adam B. Vary Senior Entertainment Writer The past, present and future of Star Wars was on ample display on Friday at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention, as Lucasfilm unveiled the most robust look yet at the company’s plans for the hallowed franchise. As studio chief Kathleen Kennedy revealed three new feature films and first looks at four upcoming TV series, Lucasfilm made clear it aims to test just how far it can stretch the Star Wars galaxy: creatively, logistically and even historically. Starting with “The Phantom Menace” and concluding with “The Rise of Skywalker,” the previous nine “Star Wars” movies have all taken place within a roughly 70-year timeline, straddling the climactic Battle of Yavin in “A New Hope” that has served as the official fulcrum point for the franchise for six decades. Every live-action and animated spinoff TV series has unfolded within that timeframe, including the shows launched on Disney+: “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” “Andor,” “The Bad Batch” and the upcoming shows “Ahsoka” and “Skeleton Crew.” (“Visions,” an animated anthology series launched in 2021, exists outside of Star Wars canon.)
While many fans are still waiting to see Lucasfilm develop live-action projects set during The Old Republic that explores things like the Sith Empire (long before the Rule of Two) and origins of the Jedi Order, there was a bit of a compromise with the publishing side creating The High Republic setting. It takes place between the Skywalker Saga and The Old Republic.
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist in the highly anticipated fifth installment of the iconic “Indiana Jones” franchise. Coming to theaters June 30 via Lucasfilm, today at Star Wars Celebration, that teased all things Lucasfilm and not just “Star Wars,” hence Indiana Jones’ and the company introduced the new trailer to “Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.” READ MORE: ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’ Officially Added To The Cannes Film Festival Lineup Peeling back much of the mystery of the plot and story, the new ‘Dial Of Destiny’ trailer centers heavily on Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), who is confirmed to play Jones’ goddaughter and the daughter of one of Jones friends from the series (though who exactly, it isn’t said, presumably Denholm Elliott character Marcus Brody?) ‘Dial Of Destiny,’ the much-anticipated fifth installment of the iconic “Indiana Jones” franchise, is directed by James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Logan”), who is also joining the “Star Wars” universe as a director (read that story here).
