Good Morning Britain's guest Russ Cook had to apologise after he mistakenly referred to host Susanna Reid as Kate Garraway.
The ITV morning show, which aired on Wednesday 12 June, was hosted by Susanna, 53, and Ed Balls, 57. The programme covered a range of topics including the latest general election news and debates about David Beckham potentially receiving an honour from the King. One segment that had the hosts laughing was an interview with long-distance runner Russ Cook, also known as The Hardest Geezer.
Cook became famous last year when he set himself the enormous challenge of running the length of Africa. After raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity, Russ is not ready to retire his running shoes just yet. Just weeks after completing his mission, he was back on the road.
In April, he ran the London Marathon and now has a new goal in sight. During his chat with Ed and Susanna, Russ revealed his plan to run from Wembley Stadium in London to Germany, ahead of England's first match of Euro 2024 against Serbia. He plans to follow the team, running from city to city as they hopefully progress through the competition, with the finish line being the final in Berlin on July 14.
During a light-hearted segment on Good Morning Britain, Russ shared his gut feeling that England could clinch the title in the competition. Yet, the atmosphere took a slightly awkward turn when he confused Susanna’s voice with another. As they were signing off, Susanna sent her best wishes to Russ as he continued his journey from Little End to Harwich, Essex, to catch a ferry to Europe.
