A Scots dad claims his son's health deteriorated after doctors prescribed him treatment for an allergy he had never been tested for.
Craig Dundas says his son Lewis was treated for a milk allergy but claims medical advice led to his eczema worsening and him becoming sick.
Craig, 36, and his son's mum were forced to go against treatment prescribed by doctors at Ker Practice in Glasgow due to worries over Lewis' health after finding blood in his stool.
And they say Lewis improved when they switched him back to cow's milk, after he was prescribed Nuramigen milk formula as a replacement at three months old in October of last year.
The treatment was advised due to Lewis' severe eczema not improving with the use of multiple creams and ointments, Glasgow Live reports.
Dad-of-two Craig said: "We didn’t think he had a milk allergy but listened to the advice of the doctors.
"We ended up in this loop where they told us we had to keep him on the formula and not reintroduce dairy to his normal diet.
"Lewis then developed, over the course of being on the formula, severe outbreaks of eczema. We went back and said the formula isn’t helping and isn’t making a difference.
"They asked us to consider using another milk formula that was even more hypo-allergenic. We very reluctantly agreed to try that because it was clinical advice."
At seven-months-old, Lewis was advised to drink Alfamino milk - a replacement for children who have a severe allergy to cow's milk.
But when his parents spotted blood in his nappy, they decided enough was enough.
Craig said: "Lewis then ended up with severe constipation to the point where he was crying all day every day. He was passing blood in his stools.
