An 'emaciated' dog has been rescued after a member of the public confronted a man about the state of the animal on a Scots street.
The female Staffordshire bull terrier was handed over by a man following the confrontation on Dumbarton Road at Whiteinch, Glasgow, on July 31.
The Scottish SPCA has now launched an investigation while the dog is brought back to health, Glasgow Live reports.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Gillian Dick, said, "The dog is a tan, adult female Staffordshire bull terrier type dog. She is in extremely poor condition and emaciated.
"She was handed to a member of the public by a man after they confronted him about the state of the dog.
"He claimed the dog belonged to his friend.
"We are keen to speak to the person who was looking after the dog and the person who owns her. Unfortunately, she is not microchipped so we are unable to trace any owner details.
"If anyone recognises this dog, or has any information about her circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
