A woman has died in hospital after being involved in a horror crash in Caithness.
Emergency services raced to the B876, near Wick, following reports of a crash involving a white Audi A3 near the Quoybrae junction at around 4.15am on Saturday, August 5. We previously told how the 22-year-old female driver of the car was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where hospital staff described her condition as critical.
Officers have confirmed that the woman sadly died as a result of her injuries on Thursday morning. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 22-year-old woman has died at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary during the morning of Thursday, August 10 as a result of injuries sustained in a crash in Caithness. She was seriously injured in a collision involving a single vehicle on the B876 close to the Quoybrae junction near Wick on Saturday, August 5. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
Police previously urged anyone with information or dash-cam footage to get in touch.
Sergeant Christopher Donaldson from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Dingwall said: “Our investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. I would urge anyone who seen this car driving on the road, or who has any information that may assist us to please contact us
“I am also keen to obtain any dash-cam footage that may help our inquiry. Anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 0741 of August 5.”
