Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge reveals 'real reason' for Channel 4 exit after sweary rant

Escape to the Chateau star Dick Strawbridge, 64, has revealed the "real reason" Channel 4 decided to finish his and wife Angel Strawbridge's popular home renovation series last year. Escape to the Chateau followed Dick and Angel as they worked on building their forever home within the old Chateau de la Motte Husson in France. The couple, together with their two children, Arthur, 10, and Dorothy, nine, got stuck in and tried their hand at all sorts of DIY works to turn the immense property into a stunning home for them all to live in.
Located in the Pays de la Loire region of France, the family's journey began eight years ago. Instantly a huge hit for Channel 4, bosses kept the series coming back for a whopping nine seasons. Sadly, the broadcaster announced the programme would not be returning to the channel in May of this year, amid concerns over the Strawbridges' conduct when leaked recordings appeared to show red-head mum-of-two Angel angrily swearing at crew members.
The audio footage appeared to show Angel calling the workers "c***s" in an incredibly sweaty rant. Angel and Dick have since denied the allegations when questioned about the recordings on Lorraine. Now going into detail about why the popular programme was really cancelled, Dick has claimed that the family decided to finish it off "two years ago".
He also said that he and Angel, 45, had made the decision due to it being incredibly difficult to keep the works going as well as looking after the kids, especially with them getting older.
