The feud over Ivy continues in Emmerdale as Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) heads to court for kidnapping the baby. In one of the most complex storylines the show has ever done, Rhona hopes to gain custody of Ivy, who she believes to be her daughter. It all began when Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna), used Rhona’s embryo to have a baby with his wife, Lucy, who sadly passed away during childbirth.
Gus graciously let Rhona see Ivy when he was struggling, but Rhona’s connection has grown so strong that she can’t let the baby go. Watching it all unfold is Rhona’s husband, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock). “The story has definitely created a moral discussion and I don’t think there’s been one like this in response to a TV show,” says Mark.
“I’ve never seen anything like it," continues Mark. "And none of us know where it’s going to end up. It’s a case of getting a new script and then it will change again.” “Early on when we were filming, the crew were going, ‘I’m definitely team Rhona,” says Alan.
“Then we’d do another scene and I’d hear, ‘Oh I don’t know, maybe I’m team Gus.’ I’m hoping this story doesn’t create a whole industry of embryo thefts – hopefully we haven’t opened up a can of worms here!” Rhona fled the village with Ivy when Gus said he was planning on moving abroad, but was brought back by her best friend, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), and has since been charged with kidnapping. As the court case looms, Rhona knows the outcome will affect her ability to ever see Ivy again. “Everything hangs on this,” teases Zoe.
“Rhona knows she’s not got the best case having kidnapped Ivy. It’s not looking good for her and she knows that. "Rhona’s extremely nervous and anxious to do and say the right thing.
The bottom line is that
