More heartbreak was in store for the Dingles in Emmerdale as Chas Dingle revealed more details about her breast cancer diagnosis. She told her loved ones the faulty BRCA2 gene was the reason behind her diagnosis in sad scenes, leaving her brothers, Cain and Caleb, as well as son Aaron fearing for their futures. Chas has been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, with Emmerdale working with Breast Cancer Now for the emotional storyline.
The devastating news came after her mother, Faith Dingle, tragically passed away in 2022 from breast cancer.
In Thursday's (29 February) episode, Chas told her loved ones about the faulty gene. Cain, Caleb and Aaron were left stunned as they realised there's a high chance they could have the gene and potentially have passed it onto their children. In a bid to protect her family, Chas encouraged them to go and get tested.
The trio were left feeling uneasy by the news, but upon realising they could save the lives of the people they care about the most, they looked to have had a change of heart.
Emmerdale fans are now fearing more heartbreak is in store for the Dingles. Many have taken to social media share their theories, predicting Cain, Caleb or Aaron could have the gene, or one of their children. Writing on X, one person said: "So who has the faulty gene Aaron, Cain or Caleb ? It's bound to be at least one of them.
#emmerdale," a second account wrote: "Probably Caleb!" "The cancer gene Chas has could happen to the rest of the dingles they will have to be tested. #Emmerdale," a third fan penned. A fourth wrote: "What’s the betting Nicky’s got the gene? #Emmerdale." Producer Kate Brooks has opened up about Chas' heartbreaking storyline.
