Five years after playing the late Dame Barbara Windsor in BBC biopic Babs, Jaime Winstone has stepped into her shoes once again.The 37-year-old actress appears as a younger version of the icon’s most famous character, Peggy Mitchell, in a flashback episode of EastEnders and says, “It’s a real honour.” While her role in Babs covered Barbara’s childhood, early romances and rise to fame in the Carry On films in detail, Jaime felt like her “journey with Barbara” hadn’t really finished and revealed she even felt she had received a sign from the late soap favourite to accept her latest portrayal. “When I got offered the part, I thought, ‘God, is this something I should do? Am I risking getting typecast?’" says Jaime. "So I did actually have a little word with Barbara up above and I got my sign and I felt like it was written for me.

Eastenders comeback star Shane Richie has hinted at a possible new love interest for his character Alfie Moon following his upcoming return to the Square.The 58 year old is set to arrive back on the BBC soap on 12 September as old flame Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) marries Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Ashvin Luximon has died at the young age of 38 after a suffering an aneurysm, his family has confirmed.The EastEnders star, who is best known for playing the character Asif Mailk in the soap, has been honoured by his family, who set up a tribute site where people can donate to the NSPCC or Andy's Man Club. "This site is a tribute to Ash, who passed on the 23rd July 2022 due to a aneurysm," they wrote.

Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh is set to get married to EastEnders' Toby-Alexander Smith after he proposed to her in Ibiza.Toby, 31, who plays the role of Gray Atkins, took to Instagram to announce the news. Samantha Womack is back home after confirming she's had breast cancer surgery and is now being looked after by her Coronation Street actor boyfriend, Oliver Farnworth, 40.
