EastEnders spoiler teases Janine's downfall as Linda gets revenge after losing Annie

EastEnders fans praised the BBC One soap on Monday as it made a "touching" tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after she died aged 96 on the 8 September. At the start of the episode before the opening credits in a last-minute scene added, Linda Carter, Denise Fox and Kathy Beale gathered around a picture of the monarch in the famous Old Vic pub, to discuss her "selfless" life of service.The trio discussed milestones including the Queen’s coronation in 1953 and her silver and platinum jubilees, the latter of which was described as "a classy way to say goodbye". In the scene, Linda, played by Kellie Bright, adjusted a picture of the Queen to which Denise (Diane Parish) said: "God bless her, she’s been there our whole lives.

In the wake of the Queen's death, there have been massive changes to the regular TV schedules as the country observes a period of national mourning. BBC One and ITV changed their schedules to accommodate breaking news coverage of the momentous event, and a number of special programmes celebrating the long and historic reign of Queen Elizabeth II went on air in the place of the usual shows.

Billy is shocked to see Freddie, now 18, and can't find the words to speak to him, clearly haunted by the shocking truth that he's not his son at all.

Eastenders comeback star Shane Richie has hinted at a possible new love interest for his character Alfie Moon following his upcoming return to the Square.The 58 year old is set to arrive back on the BBC soap on 12 September as old flame Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) marries Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Alfie attempts to win Kat back on the day of her wedding, however unexpectedly finds a connection between himself and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in a surprising turn.

EastEnders fans were left devastated on Wednesday's episode as two characters left Albert Square after evil Janine Butcher set up Linda Carter to social services. Only recently, Janine blackmailed Jada Lennox as she demanded she plant empty bottles of alcohol and call social services, pretending that Linda was drinking again. However, Jada had a change of heart as she refused to go along with the scheme and even accused Janine of being "jealous" due to Linda's bond with her ex Mick Carter, who is dating Janine.

On EastEnders, viewers are taken back to 1979 to visit the Mitchell family and uncover a secret from their chequered past while Samantha Keeble - played by Alison Newman - continues to pile pressure on Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). It will see the history of the iconic Mitchell family unearthed for the first time.
