EastEnders spoiler sees Mitchell secret unveiled as episode goes back to 1979

EastEnders will return to BBC One after days of suspended programming in the wake of the Queen’s death.The broadcaster will continue to air rolling news coverage on Monday with a BBC News special filling regular TV slots alongside HM The King: Westminster Tributes and Scotland: A Service For HM The Queen. However, fan-favourite soap EastEnders will return to BBC One at 8.30pm, having been moved from its usual channel on Friday alongside Homes Under The Hammer and Bargain Hunt which aired on BBC Two.The highly-anticipated episode will see Alfie Moon, played by Shane Richie, return to Walford on the wedding day of Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell, played by Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden.

EastEnders viewers are in for another week of drama in Albert Square as Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) encourages his daughter Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) to report her attack to the police and supports her as she gives her statement to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen). However, she’s upset when Jack warns her it will be difficult to get a conviction. Frankie is despondent after she and Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) are hassled by some guys.

It's set to be a dramatic week on the Square as newcomer Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier's) debut in the soap continues to unfold. When a young man starts causing trouble in the market in upcoming EastEnders episodes, Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) is about to call the police when the young man introduces himself as Freddie Slater and says he’s Billy’s son. Billy is shocked to see Freddie, now 18, and can't find the words to speak to him, clearly haunted by the shocking truth that he's not his son at all.

Five years after playing the late Dame Barbara Windsor in BBC biopic Babs, Jaime Winstone has stepped into her shoes once again.The 37-year-old actress appears as a younger version of the icon’s most famous character, Peggy Mitchell, in a flashback episode of EastEnders and says, “It’s a real honour.” While her role in Babs covered Barbara’s childhood, early romances and rise to fame in the Carry On films in detail, Jaime felt like her “journey with Barbara” hadn’t really finished and revealed she even felt she had received a sign from the late soap favourite to accept her latest portrayal. “When I got offered the part, I thought, ‘God, is this something I should do? Am I risking getting typecast?’" says Jaime. "So I did actually have a little word with Barbara up above and I got my sign and I felt like it was written for me.

EastEnders looks set for explosive scenes as new spoiler photos show a dramatic showdown between Linda Carter and Janine Butcher after the latter set her up with social services. Only recently, Janine blackmailed Jada Lennox as she demanded she plant empty bottles of alcohol and call social services, pretending that Linda was drinking again.

Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has been forced to visit hospital amid an unknown health scare following her recent reported split from her jailed fiancé. The actress, 48, who is best known for playing Sam Mitchell in the BBC soap, took to Instagram to share with her 102,000 followers that she was back in hospital. Danniella could be seen wearing a blue disposable face mask below her elaborate fluffy faux eyelashes.

Jaime Winstone has said playing a young Peggy Mitchell in a flashback episode of EastEnders will be an “amazing milestone” that “bookends” her journey with Dame Barbara Windsor. The matriarch of the Mitchell family was played by Dame Barbara for more than two decades after she joined the long-running soap in 1994 and became its biggest star, with her iconic catchphrase: "Get outta' my pub," when her character landlady of the Queen Vic. Dame Barbara died in December 2020 aged 83, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, which she was diagnosed with in 2014.

Sid Owen is returning to Albert Square as EastEnders favourite Ricky Butcher after 10 years away from the soap.The actor, 50, said he is “delighted” to be reprising his role as Walford’s hapless mechanic after previously starring in the BBC series from 1988 until 2000, returning sporadically until 2012. Sid's character was involved in a number of high-profile storylines, perhaps most famously with his on-screen spouse Bianca Jackson played by Patsy Palmer.Their relationship was a hit with fans and their on-screen wedding drew an audience of more than 22 million.Talking about his return to the show, Sid said: “I’m delighted to back at EastEnders.
