EastEnders is set to air a special flashback episode in September, which will see the history of the iconic Mitchell family unearthed for the first time. The one-off episode will transport viewers back to the winter of 1979 as the Mitchells attempt to navigate through economic turmoil in Britain.
After first teasing the episode in July and revealing that Jaime Winstone will take on the role of family matriarch Peggy, the soap has now unveiled a full family portrait ahead of the flashback episode's release.Taken in a conventional 1970s dining room, Peggy can be seen flanked by her two sons, Phil and Grant, played by actors Daniel Delaney and Teddy Jay. A young Billy Mitchell, who will be portrayed by George Greenland, lurks in the background, while his older brother Charlie Mitchell, played by Charlie Heptinstall, is positioned next to him in the corner of the room.
Peggy's husband Eric, who has never featured in EastEnders, is played by George Russo, and can be seen sitting at the dining table near Phil. Other Mitchell family members set to appear in the episode include Archie, played by Henry Garrett, his wife Glenda, portrayed by Rose Reynolds along with Billy and Charlie's dad Stephen, who will be played by Dean Roberts.
The episode will see Peggy trying to keep the household in line as cracks are beginning to show in her marriage to Eric, while Phil and Eric are busy vying for the title of man of the house, which is continuing to cause tension.
