Dramatic dashcam footage has revealed the moment a police chase ended at Manchester Airport as a driver smashed through a barrier on Tuesday (March 5).
Moments before, the getaway van driver had thrown suspected packages of heroin onto the M56 motorway during the chase. Cheshire Police had attempted to stop the driver near Warrington before he drove off 'at speed'.
A dramatic chase then followed, with officers from Greater Manchester Police also joining the pursuit as the police helicopter hovered overhead. The driver left the M56 and headed onto the A555 towards Manchester Airport.

The pursuit came to a stop after the driver ploughed through a barrier into a multi-storey car park at the airport. They then tried to run from officers but was arrested near the Radisson Blu hotel. Officers later found the packages full of suspected heroin on the M56.
Cheshire Constabulary have now shared gripping footage of the chase, in which the van can be seen moving onto a slip lane before cutting in front of motorway traffic in a desperate bid to escape.
The van is then seen cutting across a pavement and even driving the wrong way round a roundabout, onto oncoming traffic.
The 42-year-old from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and failing to stop for officers. He remains in custody at this time.
