Praia da Falesia managed to beat beaches in Hawaii, the Seychelles and Australia to bag the number one spot in the list, which was compiled according to Tripadvisor reviewers. The beach has moved up five positions, having been named the sixth best in last year’s list.
Reached by a wooden staircase, the beach is known for its dramatic red, sandy cliff and powdery soft sand. Famous for its natural beauty, it feels a world away from overdeveloped and commercialised beaches.
