Having been sidelined for much of last season with a knee injury, Van de Beek has been unable to make an impression on Dutch compatriot Erik ten Hag and the arrival of two midfielders in the summer saw his chances dwindle again. And the 26-year-old admits he could look to leave Old Trafford in search of more minutes.

''I am bouncing to play matches again," he admitted. "The manager is making different choices now. We have a big squad and I am not the only one knocking on the door.
"We'll see in January what happens. I need to start playing games very soon - if not at Man United then at another club. I think I have to be ambitious.
“I have always been a lover of the game. I am absolutely crazy about football. I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day.”
Van de Beek looked set to join Real Sociedad for much of the summer but the Spanish outfit pulled out of a deal after failing to reach an agreement with United. It was reported that they wanted an initial loan amid concerns over his fitness.
