Coronation Street is set for explosive scenes next week as cobbles killer Stephen Reid is blackmailed after he murdered businessman Rufus Donahue. Only recently, it was revealed in a flashback that Stephen, who has already killed before on the cobbles, murdered Rufus by spiking his drink before drowning him in his own swimming pool. And while Stephen has got away with his heinous crimes thus far on the ITV soap, it appears his downfall could be near next week.
In upcoming episodes, Stephen orders Sally, Michael and Izzy to pull out all the stops for the first Nippersnapper order, but suddenly the power goes off and the factory is plunged into darkness. And matters get worse for Stephen later in the week when he receives a mysterious hand delivered letter, where he is shocked to find a single line reading "I know what you did to Rufus". Over at the Rovers, he struggles to get into a celebratory mood with the others as they drink to the second order.
Later, as he heads back to the factory, he is approached by the two lads he tried to buy LSD off who reveal that they sent the letter and they want £10k or they’ll go to the police. How will Stephen react - will he pay up or will he claim two new victims to cover up his deadly secrets? Elsewhere, Elaine tells son Tim Metcalfe and his wife Sally that she and Stephen will be moving into their apartment any day. And Tim, who is wary of Stephen, is left further horrified to realise she intends to marry him.
