Antony Cotton's mother made a surprise appearance in Coronation Street on Friday, as villain Stephen Reid claimed the life of his third victim. Enid Dunn, who is mum to soap star Antony, 47, who plays Sean Tully in the hit ITV soap, starred as a housekeeper who found the dead body of Stephen's latest victim Rufus. In Friday's episode, Enid portrayed the unnamed housekeeper, who could be seen being comforted by police after her discovery before then being questioned.
It's not actress Enid's first time visiting Coronation Street either, as she's had three other guest roles in the hit soap over the years. Enid played the aunt of Dennis Stringer at his funeral in January 2002, and then appeared again in January 2006 at an art exhibition held at Weatherfield Gallery. In Juny 2011, she portrayed another unnamed woman.
Coronation Street isn't the only TV show the actress has appeared in, as she's also had several other roles since deciding to follow her famous son and take up acting in the 1990s. Enid has appeared in Doctors, Shameless, The Bay, Bancroft, Merseybeat and Compulsion. She also starred as Betty Pargetter in Cutting It, as well as Peter's Phoenix Nights and Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere.
She also starred in an advert alongside son Antony for Yorkshire-based internet provider Plusnet. Enid's recent Coronation Street appearance came as Stephen Reid, played by Todd Boyce, claimed the life of businessman Rufus Donahue, leaving viewers unimpressed. In a flashback scene, viewers at home were shown the exact moment Stephen murdered his business rival Rufus, after Rufus had been blackmailing him into handing over 50% of the profits from Underworld’s new venture Nippersnapper.
