The walls are again closing in on Stephen Reid just as he gets his feet back under someone else's table with a new romance in Coronation Street. It comes as he looks close to being found out after pictures seemingly confirmed a potential exit for the unsuspecting serial killer as one of his victim's bodies is found.
But next week kicks off with Angelique breaking the news that she won’t be renewing the Nippersnapper contract but Stephen tells Carla Connor, Sarah Barlow and Michael Bailey that she would consider buying the company outright. Afterwards, Tim Metcalfe warns Sarah that Stephen is a liar who claimed he was coercively controlled by his ex-wife Gabrielle, but then tried to pass her off as a business consultant for the factory.
In the meantime, Sarah's grandmother Audrey Roberts shows daughter Gail Rodwell a statement from an equity release company. But afterwards, discovering that Gail and Audrey knew about Gabrielle’s treatment of Stephen, Sarah decides to give the woman a call.

It is then that Audrey shows the equity release letter to Sarah and wonders if it’s got anything to do with the visit she had from an estate agent which Stephen had previously organised when the broke businessman planned to fleece his own mother.
Following her new discoveries, in the factory, Sarah overhears Stephen on the phone talking to Jenny Connor about the Rovers Return deal. Wrongly assuming he’s talking to Angelique about the Nippersnapper deal, she follows him.
