Coronation Street's Bill Roache spotted with new car following 'bankruptcy' claims

Bill Roache has been spotted out in a brand new car, despite reports claiming the Coronation Street legend is facing bankruptcy for the second time. The 91 year old actor, who has played Ken Barlow on the ITV soap since 1960, was photographed while out in his new motor, worth up to £72,000, in Cheshire.
Home furnishings companies were also spotted by his Cheshire property, presumably to give the home a makeover. The long-serving soap star kept a low profile in a padded jacket and jumper as he ran errands nearby, seemingly putting his money worries to the back of his mind.
Despite his fortune, in January it was reported that Bill had been forced to file for bankruptcy due to his current financial situation, after HMRC filed a petition against the soap actor. While HMRC does not comment on individual cases, a spokesperson told The Mirror: "We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts, and do everything we can to help those who engage with us to get out of debt, such as offering instalment plans.
We only petition for bankruptcy as a last resort." A spokesperson for Coronation Street told the outlet: "We're really sorry to hear of Bill's financial situation. Bill has an ongoing contract with Coronation Street and remains a much-loved member of the cast." A source claimed that the tax issue has been "rumbling on a long time" and is "still quite shocking", leaving Bill's loved ones concerned for him.
