Coronation Street fans were unable to hide their devastation this evening as fan favourite Peter Barlow bid a heartbreaking farewell to the cobbles after over two decades on our screens. As regular viewers will know, Peter has been wrestling with guilt and struggling to cope in recent weeks after he killed serial killer Stephen Reid by hitting him with his taxi as he was holding Jenny Connor hostage. Fearing she was in potentially life threatening danger, Peter did what he thought he needed to do in order to save her life - but has been wracked with guilt and remorse after Jenny admitted she actually believed Stephen would never have truly hurt her.
