A manhunt has been launched for a knife-wielding robber after three separate shops were targeted in Edinburgh. Police say they are treating the terrifying incidents as linked due to the description of the suspect allegedly involved.
The first premises was hit at around 7.40pm on Saturday, October 7, in the Bridge Road area of Colinton. A masked man threatened a member of staff with a blade before fleeing with a three-figure sum of cash.
He was seen making off in the direction of Colinton Village. Detectives say he is described as being aged between 30 to 40-years-old, with an athletic build and spoke with a local Scottish accent.
He was wearing a distinctive light grey Adidas hooded top with a neon green trim, white face covering, light-coloured gloves, dark trousers, and dark trainers. Just 24 hours later, a man matching a similar description targeted a second shop on Ashley Terrace on Sunday.
He threatened a female worker with the knife while demanding cash and cigarettes but left empty handed at around 7.50am. A third business, located on Colinton Road, was then robbed at 8.30am where staff were again threatened with a weapon.
He fled with a three-figure sum of cash. During the second two robberies, police say the suspect was wearing a black and white coloured face covering with a skull and crossbone design as well as a black hooded top with an orange t-shirt underneath.
