An abandoned Scots shopping centre still lies derelict nearly 20 years after it closed for good. The Five Sisters Freeport Shopping Village, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, is boarded up and overgrown with weeds.
The resemblance to a post-apocalyptic ghost town meant it was used as the location for the filming of 2015 reality game show I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse.
The eight-episode BBC3 show saw contestants trying to survive in the abandoned shopping centre, which was overrun by the undead, for seven days.
But when the retail park opened in 1996, it was a hotspot for designer clothes. There were over 40 stores at the shopping village, which was just off the M8 motorway.
Within travel distance for most people in central Scotland, it was open seven days a week, from 10am, with shops selling items by Versace, Levi's, Rockport, DKNY and Calvin Klein, The Mirror reports.
As well as a soft play and go-karts, there was also a Leisureland facility, restaurants and cafes. More than a million visitors were recorded in the first year, and bosses at Freeport Leisure decided to extend the premises.
