EastEnders bosses have released the first sneak peek at Cindy Beale's return to Walford. Cindy, played by Michelle Collins, hasn't been seen on the Square in 25 years, and many residents think that she is dead. However, she has been under witness protection for all of that time, and now is the time for her to return.
Viewers will recall that in June, the soap aired a special episode which revealed that Cindy was living abroad with Ian and Peter Beale under the name of Rose Knight. During that episode, Ian asked to go back to London after Cindy's witness protection ended, but she insisted that she was happy as things were. What they don't know is, Cindy's two daughters, Anna and Gina Knight, which she had whilst living as Rose, are now living in the Queen Vic with their dad George.
However, next week Anna sends a text to her mum, but it is intercepted by Peter, who discovers that he has two sisters. He keeps the text from Cindy, but he tells Ian that he is planning on heading back to London to meet them. During Tuesday, 22 August's episode, Peter arrives at the Queen Vic just as Anna and Gina are closing up for the night.
As the week continues, Peter reconnects with his brother Bobby and the rest of his family. Eventually, Cindy finds out where Peter is, and she decides that she needs to go and get him. Ian is unhappy with her decision and wants her to stay as he knows what she will find on the Square. The first look images from the BBC soap reveal that Cindy does head back to the UK.
She has been pictured outside of the Prince Albert, taking in the surroundings that have changed a lot since she was last there. Cindy looks like she is reflecting as she sets eyes on the place where she spent so much of her life. Alongside
