As EastEnders star Michelle Collins made an iconic return to Albert Square in Monday nights episode, her legendary character Cindy Beale could be set up for a scandalous storyline as Michelle has teased she could end up having an affair. Following Cindy’s dramatic return on 28 August, actress Michelle has confessed that her character is sticking to her roots and is just like she was before.
Cindy has had a rollercoaster of a journey so far, as she was presumed to be dead after Ian Beale was informed she died during childbirth in prison.
This was later revealed to be false information, as Cindy had really been put into witness protection and relocated to Spain where she met EastEnders newcomer George Knight. After having two kids with George, leaving them and reuniting with Ian, Cindy has now arrived back to Albert Square and has no idea that her two daughters, Gina and Anna Knight, are also there.
Speaking about her character's arrival, Michelle hinted that it might not be plain sailing for Cindy as she told RadioTimes.com: “I can’t tell you too much, but Cindy has been through a lot in her life. She’s been in witness protection, she’s lived a new life as a completely different person, and I’m amazed that she’s still going with the things she’s been through.
"She has this amazing resilience and this strength of character, but I think she also has a side to her which was kind of lacking when she was younger. Possibly more empathy than maybe she had before, and she’s a bit older and wiser.
