EastEnders fans ‘work out’ dark reason Cindy Beale abandoned her second family

EastEnders fans are convinced they've worked out the reason Cindy Beale abandoned her second family, the Knights, a number of years ago. As regular viewers will know, Cindy Beale will be returning to Albert Square imminently, despite previously being presumed dead by her loved ones, with it being revealed that she had actually faked her death and entered witness protection.
Making a new life for herself, Cindy, now using the alias Rose, started a relationship with George Knight, with whom she had Anna and Gina Knight. However, Cindy later abandoned her second family without warning and disappeared to France, where she somehow reunited with her ex-husband Ian Beale and their son Peter.
Posting to the EastEnders SubReddit fans have been theorising as to why Cindy left the Knights, with one suggesting: "My guess is that when Lucy was murdered, she thought it was a 'message' from the woman she was hiding from, and she had to run again. I don't know if she even knows it was Bobby." "She found out Lucy had died and then got paranoid that by having another family she was putting Anna and Gina in danger from the gangster family so she did a runner" added another.
Others weren't so convinced, with one arguing that perhaps George asked her to leave, commenting: "I think George might know a bit more than he’s letting on - I think after Lucy died in 2014 she revealed everything to him about her other life and he actually told her to leave to ‘protect’ the girls. "If I remember rightly Ian had a short break in 2019 I can imagine this being when he found out Cindy was still alive." Fans have predicted another dark storyline for Cindy upon her return to Albert Square, with some theorising that she may want to get revenge for her
