Charles' Coronation portraits reveal King's 'appreciation' of one family member, says expert

Mike Tindall — a.k.a. husband of Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall — was among those invited to attend the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey.

Mike Tindall, Princess Anne's son-in-law, is speaking out about his seat at King Charles' coronation that took place on May 6. Mike, who is married to Charles' niece Zara Tindall, shared a recap on the historic ceremony on his "The Good, The Bad and The Rugby" podcast.  "You're in the hottest spot, but it was all happening just around the corner of wall that you can’t see!" Tindall said, adding a laugh. "You do have a front-row seat."  Mike did not actually sit in the front-row.

So close but so far! Mike Tindall was honored to attend King Charles III’s coronation with wife Zara Tindall — but he has one major complaint about the ceremony.  

The Princess of Wales is constantly praised for the seamless way she has adapted to her senior royal role, whether it the relatable way she speaks to the public or the amazing amount of work she has put into her early years development work. While Catherine rightly deserves this commendation, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond feels another key royal deserves huge credit for helping the Princess adapt.

Buckingham Palace on Friday released two new official portraits from King Charles III’s coronation, including one in which he posed with Prince William and Prince George, the next two men in line for the throne. The second portrait showed Charles and Queen Camilla with their eight Pages of Honour, which included George and Camilla’s three grandsons and great-nephew, and their Ladies in Attendance – Camilla’s sister Annabel Elliot and her friend the Marchioness of Lansdowne.

King Charles’ Coronation has been marked by the release of two more official portraits. The first image shows the King with the two next in line to the throne – son Prince William and grandson Prince George. The second is of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla with their Pages of Honour and Ladies in Attendance on the historic Coronation day.

Lady A’s Charles Kelley admitted when it came to his alcoholism, he was in denial because he wasn’t "living on the street" or "waking up in a bush."  But his marriage to Cassie McConnell almost ended during a vacation to Greece after the country star stayed out all night drinking after a fight.  "At that point, I thought I was fully flying back to the U.S., going to meet with a divorce attorney, like, that was it," McConnell told Gayle King in a CBS interview Wednesday.  "Basically, we got in an argument, and I, like, just turned my phone off in, you know, the middle of nowhere and just took off and stayed up drinking with all these like random people I didn't know," Kelley explained.  "I had one of those moments where I'm just like, 'I'm so sick of being told what to do,' and I turned off the phone. I didn't realize I had eight of my friends looking for me all night."  McConnell said she "never went to sleep" that night.

Long before he became King we'd heard talk of the then Prince Charles' plans for a 'slimmed down' Royal family. And as the official photographs of King Charles and Queen Camilla's Coronation are released, we now get to see what that looks like in practise.

The crowds gathered at The Mall to catch a glimpse of their new King and Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony, despite the rain. And as our new sovereign waved to the crowds, spectators also got the chance to see some of our younger royals – including Kate and William's children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. There was one particularly poignant moment between brothers George, nine, and five year old Louis as they chatted during the appearance, where they could watch the Red Arrows fly over the Palace.

Charles and Camilla will be officially crowned King and Queen at the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6. As part of the celebrations there will be two processions through London - one as they make their way to the abbey and another as they return home to Buckingham Palace.
