BBC One kicks off a hotly-anticipated series tonight (Tuesday) as Tell Me Lies hits UK screens. The program, a hit for Hulu in the US, is variously described as 'steamy' and 'soapy', with a lot of darkness thrown in for good measure.
Based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, the 10-part centres around two young people who fall for each other in college. But if you're looking for the next One Day, you might want to give it a miss.

What is Tell Me Lies about?
Tell Me Lies follows a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of eight years. Although their relationship begins like any typical campus romance, they are at that formative age when seemingly mundane choices lead the way to irrevocable consequences.
The pair quickly falls into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.
Who is in Tell Me Lies?
Female lead Lucy Albright is played by Grace Van Patten, most recently seen in the screen adaptation of Liane Moriarty's acclaimed novel Nine Perfect Strangers, which screened on Channel 4. She also co-starred in the ensemble comedy The Wilde Wedding opposite Glenn Close, John Malkovich, and Patrick Stewart, as well as in Under the Lake opposite Andrew Garfield.
Her romantic partner Stephen DeMarco is played by Jackson White who appeared opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Michael Bay's action thriller Ambulance. He's also set to appear in the horror prequel Pet Semetary: Bloodlines.
