A big-hearted Scot who was moved after hearing stories of those who were struggling has delivered over 100 Christmas dinners to those most in need.
Zander Brown, 37, was helping with charity work in a local food bank in East Lothian with Ideal Flooring Solutions, when he heard harrowing stories of the difficulties people faced at this time of year, reports Edinburgh Live.
The Musselburgh man knew he had to help those who were struggling, and organised a food drive to provide Christmas dinners for around 50 families.
The dad-of-three put out an appeal on social media, and was shocked and heartened when people reached out in droves to help. Zander ended up being able to provide more than 100 meals to those most in need.
Working alongside wife Denise and kids Evie, 10, Jude, seven, and Luna, four, the family made up packs in their home before making deliveries across the east coast.
Zander said that some of the families were so grateful they broke down in tears with the delivery, feeling overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers.
Zander explained: "I came up with the idea after doing a charity job for a food bank in East Lothian. I was in there doing some work for their bathroom when the volunteers told me that the situation had become drastic with the amount of people needing their help.
“Christmas is a really important time for families and with me having a family of my own I decided I wanted to do something for the community. A great way to do this was with Christmas dinner hampers.
“I know that families will be facing a lot of stress and anxiety but our thinking was that if we could provide a full Christmas dinner then that would be one less thing to worry about. I put out an appeal on Facebook and Instagram with the aim of
