Vanity Fair that the first version of those films is a version “that anyone can enjoy and watch,” but a more extreme version of both films will later be released on Netflix. “I think for fans of mine and people who are ready to take a deeper, harder dive, that’ll be fun for them,” he said. This is not unlike the three-hour “Ultimate Edition” of “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” his director’s cuts of “Sucker Punch” and “Watchmen” and of course the “Snyder Cut” of “Justice League.” But instead of offering up his “true vision” in a director’s cut (as with “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”), Snyder is happily overseeing the release of both versions of the “Rebel Moon” movies so they’re merely two different ways to watch the films. The original story begins in a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy run by an authoritarian government.
Desperate to get out from under the boot of tyranny, the citizens dispatch a woman named Kora (Sofia Boutella) to round up a group of warriors to challenge their overlords. Yes, it’s very “The Dirty Dozen.”Snyder came up with the story three decades ago and originally pitched it to Lucasfilm, before the studio’s sale to Disney, as a standalone “Star Wars” film.
That movie never materialized, and he’s reworked the material into its own original story for Netflix – albeit one that was way too long for one movie.Snyder’s script clocked in at 172 pages, and producer Deborah Snyder told Vanity Fair that it was during a discussion with Netflix’s film chairman Scott Stuber that the idea to make two movies came about.“Stuber was like, ‘On the service, under-two-hour movies really do better for some reason,’ even though you’ll binge-watch a series of eight episodes,” Deborah Snyder said. “Zack said,

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Michael Shannon revealed in a recent interview with Empire magazine (via Insider) that he turned down a role in the “Star Wars” franchise due to his overall wariness over big Hollywood franchise movies. Shannon did not reveal the role, but he said his reason for rejecting came down to him being “a bit wary about those giant movies” because they “take a lot of time and I don’t find them very stimulating to work on.” “I don’t ever want to get stuck in a franchise,” Shannon said. “I don’t find them interesting and I don’t want to perpetuate them. If I’m making something, I want there to be some kind of purpose to it — I don’t want to make mindless entertainment. The world doesn’t need more mindless entertainment. We’re inundated with it.”
Zack Snyder took the stage at Netflix’s Tudum global fan event in Brazil where he gave a sneak peek at Rebel Moon. Watch the featurette in the video above.
When filmmaker Zack Snyder (“Man of Steel“) started a working relationship with Netflix, starting with “Army of The Dead,” it was obvious that he was looking to have the streamer bankroll a bunch of his passion projects that other studios weren’t interested in. One of those projects was a “Star Wars” film pitch to Lucasfilm/Disney that was an attempt to make a Jedi-focused standalone film directly influenced by Akira Kurosawa‘s iconic samurai epic “The Seven Samurai.” Lucasfilm had passed on the idea and that led Snyder to repackage the project as an original with the blessing/financing from Netflix, giving us “Rebel Moon.” READ MORE: ‘Rebel Moon’: Zack Snyder Teases 2 Versions Of His New Sci-Fi Film With Separate Cuts Aimed At General Audiences & Adults Only Netflix’s big promotional event, Tudum, is underway this weekend where they showed new footage from “Rebel Moon” including a featurette video (See below).
a fond farewell to the so-called SnyderVerse, Netflix is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at Snyder’s latest fantasy epic. “Rebel Moon,” which will (as of this time) be a two-part film that will be offered in a PG-13 version and an R-rated cut, takes significant inspiration from one of Snyder’s favorite films, “The Seven Samurai.” The logline reads “In a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Mother World, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the forces of the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by Regent Balisarius.
The Flash (★★★☆☆), look no further than IMDb, which has listed every single (uncredited) appearance on the movie’s full cast list. Some cameos are clever, while others are slightly creepy –- yet another example of CGI eerily resurrecting the dead.
J. Kim Murphy Nine years after it was first announced, “The Flash” has finally dashed into theaters, speeding toward a debut ahead of the box office competition. But the DC Studios film isn’t exactly matching the lightning pace of its superhero. The Warner Bros. release got started with $24.5 million on opening day, which includes $9.7 million in Thursday previews. That’s enough to set the Ezra Miller film on a surefire pathway to a No. 1 debut on domestic charts, but it’ll be tough for the film to match its projections heading into the weekend — some bullish ones predicting a four-day bow as high as $85 million through the Juneteenth holiday.
Jordan Moreau Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ tentpole summer release, “The Flash,” finally hits theaters this weekend, but the superhero movie had been beset by delays and off-screen controversies involving star Ezra Miller in the years before its release. “The Flash” was initially revealed back in October 2014 as part of the inaugural DC Universe slate. It received a 2018 release date, alongside eventual releases like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad,” “Wonder Woman,” “Aquaman” and “Shazam.” However, parts of that plan didn’t come to fruition. Standalone “Cyborg” and “Green Lantern” movies were scrapped, and a two-part “Justice League” movie by Zack Snyder became one film.
The Flash” is here, and if you’ve seen it, you probably have a lot of questions about what it all, especially that cacophonous ending, means for the DC Universe. In the film, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) travels back in time and to other dimensions in an effort to save his mom’s life (and that of his father, who was wrongly convicted of her murder). Along the way he interacts with at least two actors playing Batman — Ben Affleck from Zack Snyder’s films, and Michael Keaton, who last played the role in 1992’s “Batman Returns” — alongside a whole lot of other characters.
The Flash” is here. And this time the scarlet speedster (played by Ezra Miller) has really gotten himself into a pickle: during an effort to travel back in time and save his mother, he’s knocked out of his timeline and winds up in a dimension where his mom is still alive (yay!) but there aren’t any other superheroes (boo!) This becomes even more problematic when Zod (Michael Shannon, reprising his role from “Man of Steel”) shows up to conquer a Superman-free earth. See, a real pickle! But a question that looms even larger than: can The Flash save both of his timelines and return home is … should you, as an audience member attending a showing of “The Flash,” stick around afterwards for a post-credits scene? Read on to find out.
The Flash” got off to a slow start in its domestic box office sprint, earning $9.7 million in Thursday previews. That’s barely more than the $8.9 million earned by “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” last weekend and only a bit more than the $7.5 million and $7.6 million earned by “Black Adam” and “Fast X” respectively in their Thursday preview runs.
Tom Cruise is praising The Flash, the film starring Ezra Miller and directed by Andy Muschietti. The Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning star got an advanced screening of the DC superhero movie and gave Andy and his sister Barbara Muschietti a “confidence boost.”
“The Flash”. Releasing on June 16th, the DC film hailed by James Gunn as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made finds Ezra Miller getting their own solo movie, complete with crossover into multiple eras of DC films in dream team-ups that we never thought were possible, such as bringing back Michael Keaton as Batman (and plenty more cameos).
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Wes Anderson announced in an interview with IndieWire that his upcoming Netflix movie “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” based on Roald Dahl’s 1977 short story collection, will only be 37 minutes long. The film is Anderson’s second Dahl adaptation after “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel and Ben Kingsley. Notably, “Henry Sugar” marks Anderson’s first Netflix original. He told IndieWire that collaborating with the streamer was more out of necessity than personal preference. “In my case it’s a little bit of a weird thing,” Anderson said about partnering with Netflix. “I knew Roald Dahl since before we made ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox.’ I met Lindsay Dahl, his widow, when we were shooting ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ like 20 years ago. For years I wanted to do ‘Henry Sugar.’ They set this story aside for me because I was friends with them. Lindsay kind of handed the torch to Luke, Dahl’s grandson. So I had this waiting for me. But I really couldn’t figure out the approach. I knew what I liked in the story was the writing of it, Dahl’s words. I couldn’t find the answer, and then suddenly I did. It’s not a feature film. It’s like 37 minutes or something. But by the time I was ready to do it, the Dahl family no longer had the rights at all. They had sold the whole deal to Netflix.”
Ezra Miller is speaking out in public for the first time since August 2022.
Michael Shannon didn’t hold back as he voiced his opinion on what it was like reprising his role as General Zod in “The Flash”.
McKinley Franklin editor Michael Shannon has previously revealed that he was “a little confused” when he received the offer to join “The Flash” in a reprisal of his role of of General Zod from “Man of Steel.” Now, the actor has revealed that those complicated feelings weren’t exactly resolved while making the new DC film. In a new interview with Collider, Shannon got honest about the multiverse-traversing premise of “The Flash” and his own dissatisfaction with Zod’s arc in the film. “I’m not going to lie — it wasn’t quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures,” Shannon said. “It’s like, ‘Here’s this person. Here’s that person. And they’re fighting!’ It’s not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt ‘Man of Steel’ was.”

After a bit of a rough time at the end of his run of Warner Bros./DC films, it appears Zack Snyder has settled in quite nicely over at Netflix with a deal that allows the filmmaker the freedom to make, basically, whatever he wants. That freedom includes the option of turning his new sci-fi epic, “Rebel Moon,” into a two-part film series.
