Zack Sharf Digital News Director Zack Snyder’s space opera “Rebel Moon” is coming to Netflix at the end of the year, but it would’ve been a “Star Wars” movie had the “Justice League” director’s original plan for the project panned out. The idea for “Rebel Moon” started out as a pitch for a Snyder-directed “Star Wars” movie that Lucasfilm heard after Disney acquired the studio in 2012 for $4.05 billion. Snyder was in post-production on “Man of Steel” when he made his “Star Wars” pitch to Lucasfilm. Snyder said in a new interview with Empire magazine that “a ‘Star Wars’ movie” was “my original concept” for “Rebel Moon,” adding, “It was ‘Seven Samurai’ in space. I knew that the origins for George [Lucas] were a lot of those Kurosawa films.”

Zack Sharf Digital News Director David Corenswet is officially the new Superman, which is a dream come true for the actor. Literally. Back in 2019, Corenswet was promoting his supporting role in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series “Hollywood” when he told Entertainment Weekly that his biggest acting goal was “definitely to play Superman.” Here we are four years later and now he’s Superman. The actor also said he was aware of his similar looks to Henry Cavill, who played Superman in three movies directed by Zack Snyder. “It came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me,” Corenswet told EW at the time about comparisons to Cavill. “But my pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman. I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman]. I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic.”

Superman: Legacy.Directed by James Gunn, the film will launch DC’s new film universe, spearheaded by Gunn and his co-CEO of DC Studios, Peter Safran.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Corenswet and Brosnahan were selected from six actors who had screen tests earlier this month (June 17). The other actors in contention were Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney for Superman, while Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor were also in the running for Lois.Gunn later confirmed the casting on Twitter, writing: “Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people).”Corenswet most recently starred as the projectionist in the 2022 slasher film Pearl, with his previous credits including Ryan Murphy projects The Politician and Hollywood.

He just wrapped up a long two days of catering parties for FX’s “The Bear” Season 2, providing hot Italian beef sandwiches with sweet peppers and spicy giardiniera for Hollywood’s finest. “The Bear” creator Christopher Storer — who Zucchero has been friends with since kindergarten — based “The Bear” on the classic establishment and shot about 90% of the pilot in Mr. Beef. Storer even cast Zucchero in the pilot as the guy in the parking lot who deals meat to Jeremy Allen White’s character Carmy.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Michael Shannon revealed in a recent interview with Empire magazine (via Insider) that he turned down a role in the “Star Wars” franchise due to his overall wariness over big Hollywood franchise movies. Shannon did not reveal the role, but he said his reason for rejecting came down to him being “a bit wary about those giant movies” because they “take a lot of time and I don’t find them very stimulating to work on.” “I don’t ever want to get stuck in a franchise,” Shannon said. “I don’t find them interesting and I don’t want to perpetuate them. If I’m making something, I want there to be some kind of purpose to it — I don’t want to make mindless entertainment. The world doesn’t need more mindless entertainment. We’re inundated with it.”

a fond farewell to the so-called SnyderVerse, Netflix is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at Snyder’s latest fantasy epic. “Rebel Moon,” which will (as of this time) be a two-part film that will be offered in a PG-13 version and an R-rated cut, takes significant inspiration from one of Snyder’s favorite films, “The Seven Samurai.”  The logline reads “In a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Mother World, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the forces of the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by Regent Balisarius.

The Flash (★★★☆☆), look no further than IMDb, which has listed every single (uncredited) appearance on the movie’s full cast list. Some cameos are clever, while others are slightly creepy –- yet another example of CGI eerily resurrecting the dead.

But the DC Studios film isn’t exactly matching the lightning pace of its superhero. The Warner Bros. release got started with $24.5 million on opening day, which includes $9.7 million in Thursday previews. That’s enough to set the Ezra Miller film on a surefire pathway to a No. 1 debut on domestic charts, but it’ll be tough for the film to match its projections heading into the weekend — some bullish ones predicting a four-day bow as high as $85 million through the Juneteenth holiday.

Standalone “Cyborg” and “Green Lantern” movies were scrapped, and a two-part “Justice League” movie by Zack Snyder became one film.

Along the way he interacts with at least two actors playing Batman — Ben Affleck from Zack Snyder’s films, and Michael Keaton, who last played the role in 1992’s “Batman Returns” — alongside a whole lot of other characters.
