‘Yellowjackets’ Delivers Top Season Two Premiere Across Showtime Platforms Since 2012

BreAnna Bell A series of changes have taken place at Showtime. Variety has confirmed the network has canceled “Ziwe” after just two seasons and has picked up Mandy Patinkin’s “Seasoned” to series, delivering a six-episode order. Hosted and executive produced by comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, the talk show focused on presenting trending hot topics concerning race, politics and other cultural issues as well as musical numbers, interviews, guest stars and comedic sketches. Guests on Season 2 included Drew Barrymore, Rowan Blanchard, Blake Griffin, Emily Ratajkowski and Mia Khalifa, among others. The series first debuted in 2021. With the loss, that leaves Showtime without a current late night talk show following the cancellation of “Desus & Mero” (which Ziwe also served as a writer on before moving to her own show). The changes come as part of Showtime’s reevaluation of the programming slate after MTV Entertainment Group president and CEO Chris McCarthy stepped in to oversee the cabler once former CEO David Nevins left in October.

EXCLUSIVE: Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance’s film Heist 88, which had been earmarked for Paramount+, will be moving to Showtime, Deadline has learned. Additionally, I hear the network has made decisions on two of its three comedy pilots, handing a six-episode series order to Seasoned, starring Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, and passing on The Wood, based on the 1999 feature film. Showtime also has opted not to renew Ziwe, hosted and executive produced by comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, for a third season.

EXCLUSIVE: The L Word: Generation Q is no longer available on Showtime’s streaming service and the Showtime Anytime app. The removal comes on the heels of the series’ cancellation by the network after three seasons.

Season 2 of Yellowjackets had a buzzy premiere week.

star Lainey Wilson and Ian Bohen both told ET they haven't heard many updates on the recently-confirmed news that Matthew McConaughey will star in a new franchise spinoff. «We'll go back this summer,» Bohen told ET's Cassie DiLaura from the red carpet of Sunday's CMT Music Awards but added that «mums the word» on whether he'd seen any scripts yet. «I haven't got a call yet,» Wilson said about filming the rest of season 5, «but as far as I know they don't even know when they're going to be filming.» Wilson added she was feeling positive about the show's future. «I have a really good feeling that if they do finish things in a way that, you know, they're planning, I will be back in it,» she said.

The Season 2 premiere of Yellowjackets delivered Showtime‘s best debut for a second installment that the network has seen in more than 10 years.

Following its March 26 premiere, the series became Showtime’s most-streamed debut ever, hitting nearly 2 million viewers across platforms according to figures from Nielsen, comScore, and Showtime’s internal streaming data. “Dexter: New Blood” previously held the title. Showtime also boasts that it’s the best Season 2 premiere for the network in more than 10 years and nearly double the series premiere audience. The debut marks a 110% rise in viewership from the series premiere in November 2021 and 40% jump from “Yellowjackets” Season 1 finale in cross-platform viewing.

Tom and Shiv talk about the state of their marriage, and Tom tries to push Shiv to have a conversation about why he betrayed her and sided with Logan, but she doesn’t want to talk.

season 4 cast of is calling out hateful comments they have received since the show premiered on March 24.Kwame Appiah, who is one of the featured stars of the Netflix dating show's latest season, took to Instagram over the weekend to call out racist comments he says he's been receiving.Kwame, a Black man, acknowledged that his storyline on the show would warrant «opinions» from viewers online.«Opinions are, they're a given, right?» he said in a video. «But there's definitely a level that should not be breeched, and that's when the opinions that you have go toward deepening levels of hate, racism or bigotry.»Highlighting one comment that referred to him as the N-word, Kwame said that the racist comments «cross a line.»«I think it's disgusting that people think it's OK to do this and hide it behind the agenda of just caring about a TV show,» he continued.
