Marta Balaga Oscar winner Rachel Weisz, and Rachel Weisz, dominated Canneseries on Saturday, as the audience gathered at the Lumière Auditorium in Cannes broke into spontaneous applause after the first scene of her new show “Dead Ringers.” Premiering in main competition, the six-episode limited Prime Video series – created by Alice Birch – played with the viewers’ emotions all throughout its first two episodes, eliciting frequent laughs and delivering more expletives than Logan Roy monologues, but also causing a few walk-outs, seemingly provoked by its detailed depictions of childbirth and medical procedures.  A brand new take on the novel “Twins” by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland, later adapted by David Cronenberg in 1988 and starring Jeremy Irons, “Dead Ringers” sees Weisz as ambitious New York obstetricians – and twin sisters – Beverly and Elliot.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Season 2 of Showtime’s hit genre series “Yellowjackets” is ready for another dance at this year’s Emmys, after premiering to critical acclaim and record-breaking numbers for the network. The plans for the acting submissions have changed slightly from the first season, Variety has learned exclusively. Breakout star Sophie Nélisse, who plays the teenage version of Shauna, will now join her adult counterpart Melanie Lynskey in the lead actress drama category, with hopes of landing a nomination. The pair will be joined by co-stars Tawny Cypress and Juliette Lewis, who portray the adult version of their characters, Taissa and Natalie, respectively.

Succession fans have reacted to the fourth and final season’s first episode following its premiere.The series returned yesterday evening (March 26) in the US, which picks up months after the events of the season three finale.In the episode, Kendall, Shiv and Roman Roy manage to persuade the Pierces to sell PGM after launching a rival bid to their father, Logan. Elsewhere, Shiv and Tom are going through a trial separation following his betrayal of her in season three, and Shiv tells him that she wants a divorce.Fans have heaped praise on the episode, particularly the scene between Shiv and Tom, with one saying they “will never recover from” the moment.“This scene is pure art,” another added. “Sarah Snook & Matthew Macfadyen’s performances are so beautifully devastating.

At this point, it’s safe to call David F. Sandberg‘s “Shazam! Fury Of The Gods” a flop.

Droughtlander is nearly over as Starz sets the premiere date for Outlander‘s seventh season for Friday, June 16 at midnight ET via streaming, and internationally on the Lionsgate+ premium streaming platform in the U.K. For linear viewers, the show premieres on the same day at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. New episodes will be released weekly on Fridays.

Dwayne Johnson blocked Black Adam stars from appearing in the post-credits scene of Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.Director David F. Sandberg previously revealed that members of Black Adam‘s Justice Society of America were originally slated to appear in Fury Of The Gods, but that the scene “fell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras,” forcing him to find different characters.On Tuesday (March 21), The Wrap reported that Johnson actively blocked the characters from appearing in the Shazam! sequel, and that he also denied Levi a cameo in Black Adam.In an Instagram story on Tuesday, Levi shared a post mentioning The Wrap’s report and seemingly confirmed it by adding: “The truth shall set you free.”Elsewhere, Levi recently agreed with a tweet suggesting Zack Snyder fans are “happy” that Fury Of The Gods failed at the box office.“There is no denying that at the moment there are many Snyder fans who are happy for the failure of your film and many of them wish that everything that is to come fails just for not continuing with the films of their director,” one fan wrote to Levi on Twitter.“This is also true,” Levi replied in a since deleted tweet.

Shooting is set to start on May 8 in the Piedmontese Alps on “Fireworks,” which is being produced by Domenico Procacci’s Fandango and Rome shingle Matrioska. Fandango, who is the show’s lead producer, is in advanced talks with Italian state broadcaster RAI to come on board. Fandango is also talking up the six-episode limited series at the Series Mania confab in Lille, France, where they are seeking prospective international partners.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods has failed at the box office.The DC sequel earned $30million (£24million) at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, which is well below the $53million (£44million) the original Shazam! opened with in 2019.Fury Of The Gods cost a reported $110million (£90million) to make and a further $100million (£80million) to market, so the film has recorded a huge loss overall.Levi, who stars as the titular hero in both films, made sure not to blame Snyder fans for the box office failure but acknowledged that many of them would be happy to see the film underperform after Warner Bros. dropped Snyder’s DC Universe.“There is no denying that at the moment there are many Snyder fans who are happy for the failure of your film and many of them wish that everything that is to come fails just for not continuing with the films of their director,” one fan wrote to Levi on Twitter.“This is also true,” Levi replied in a since deleted tweet.
