A 'WrapUp Glasgow' campaign has been launched ahead of the freezing winter months to help the homeless stay warm during harsh weather.
Organisers are urging people to support the initiative which will see bags of unwanted coats collected and donated to several organisations supporting people in need.
UK-based charity Human Appeal launched this year's campaign after figures from Shelter Scotland revealed the number of households experiencing homelessness had risen by 10 per cent compared to last year.
As reported in Glasgow Live, Safestore will distribute the clothing to homeless shelters, vulnerable women and children’s centres, organisations supporting refugee families, the elderly and those fleeing domestic violence.
Safestore will also provide storage space at several of its stores to facilitate the sorting, storage, and distribution of thousands of coats to over 100 charities. They are now calling on locals to donate their unwanted and good quality coats.
Digital & Marketing Director at Safestore, Shahid Kadodia said: “As we approach the winter season, we recognise that there will be many people who are in a vulnerable position especially in light of the cost-of-living challenges.

"We are pleased to support Human Appeal’s WrapUp Glasgow initiative once more this year, as they work hard to offer assistance to those in need and we take pride in our longstanding commitment to this campaign.
"We sincerely hope that the public rallies behind this cause, enabling us to contribute an even greater number of coats this year.”
Human Appeal's WrapUp campaign began in London and to date has collected over 212,000 coats
