No matter how nice you try to be to your neighbours, petty arguments and disagreements may crop up from time to time.
And whilst some habits are easy to ignore, certain things can get incredibly annoying over time, and action may need to be taken to nip it in the bud.
One woman recently found herself in a difficult situation with her new neighbours after she spotted they were hanging washing up on a shared fence, meaning it was dangling over into her garden.
And she had even considered getting revenge - although she was concerned it may be seen as "harsh", the Mirror reports.
In a post on Mumsnet, the woman explained her situation and was keen to get some insight on how she should tackle the problem.
She said: "Newish neighbours I've never spoken to except for a quick hello have started hanging their washing over our shared fence. It's bothering me - Do I say anything? My habitual pettiness is telling me to chuck the lot back over their side though I recognise that would be harsh."
She also shared a picture of the neighbour's laundry - some of which was hanging up on a line, but other items were draped along the shared fence.
The woman then confirmed in the thread's comments that she'd been round and asked her neighbour to refrain from hanging their clothes up on the fence that they share.
But it appeared her chat hadn't seemed to work, as she added: "Bit the bullet and knocked on the door 10 minutes ago. The lady's English wasn't great but she nodded and smiled. Washing is still there..."
Some people in the comments were in firm agreement that she should in fact just push the washing back over into the neighbour's garden if it kept happening.
