A woman accused of murder has appeared before a judge and could go on trial in the autumn. Katie Yeomans, 27, appeared at Manchester Crown Court this morning (Friday) after being charged with the murder of Rees Howarth.
Mr Howarth, 28, died after police were called to reports of a 'domestic disturbance' at a property in Hyde, Tameside at about 2:55pm on Sunday. (April 23) Ms Yeomans was charged on Tuesday and appeared before magistrates the following day.
Now she has appeared before the Honorary Recorder of Manchester, Judge Nicholas Dean KC. The judge set a trial date for October.

She will next appear in court to enter a plea in June. The court was told that the trial could last up to three weeks.
Ms Yeomans, of Thorsby Avenue, Hyde, appeared in court via video link and appeared visibly emotional during the short hearing.
The judge told her: "Today's hearing is what is called a preliminary hearing, nothing much is decided at these hearings but they are necessary because magistrates cannot consider bail in cases where the allegation is murder. As it happens you are not making a bail application, at least not today.
"You will therefore continue to be remanded into custody."
Paying tribute to Mr Howarth, his family described him as an 'active and outing man, who was funny and loving'.
They said: "He had a heart of gold and was caring and kind hearted. He was a larger than life character who will be sadly missed by all who loved him."
