A woman has been charged after a police officer was 'bitten' in north Manchester.
Police said plain-clothed officers were out on patrol around the Cheetham Hill and Crumpsall areas yesterday morning (Wednesday) when they spotted a 'suspected drug-deal taking place'. Police detained a woman and found what were believed to be Class A drugs in her possession.
The woman then allegedly bit one of the officers, causing a minor injury. Tanya Manning, of Santley Street, Manchester, has now been charged with common assault of an emergency worker, possession with intent to supply heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, police said.

Official court lists state the 47-year-old will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today (Thursday). A post on the GMP Manchester North Facebook page last night said: "#Arrest #Remand #COMNorthChallenger This morning officers from North Manchester's Operation Challenger Team have been out on plain clothes patrol around the Cheetham Hill and Crumpsall area.
"During the patrols, officers spotted what they believed to be a potential drug deal taking place. Officers quickly pounced on the unsuspecting offender, detaining her and finding a quantity of class A drugs.
"Unfortunately the suspect sought fit to bite one of the officers in the process, luckily only causing very minor injury. After a long 15hour shift and following a consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service we can now confirm that Tanya Manning has been charged for the following offences: Common assault of an emergency worker,
