BREAKING: Police swarm woodland after woman stabbed

Police descended on an area of woodland in Wigan this morning (18 October) after reports of a woman being stabbed.
Officers received the call from near Amberswood Common around the Platt Bridge area at around 10.10am today, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.
A woman has been taken to hospital following the horrific incident. No further details about her age or identify have been released.

Thankfully, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, GMP added. Police haven't provided any more information about the attack, and no arrests have been made as yet.
Officers are said to have remained in the area this afternoon to conduct enquiries. Eyewitnesses walking in the area of woodland at the time described seeing police and paramedics swarm the area this morning.
In a statement, GMP said: "GMP responded to reports a woman had been stabbed at 10.10am this morning (Wednesday 18 October 2023) in woodland near Amberswood Common, Wigan.
"She has been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries which are not thought to be life threatening or changing. Officers remain in the area conducting enquiries."
