‘Wednesday’ Spinoff with Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester in Early Development at Netflix

After hundreds of cringe dates, various stood-up singles and a number of success stories, Fred Sirieix is celebrating 10 years on First Dates – the Channel 4 show that made him a household name. “When I started, I was 40 and now I’m 51. I’m going in the wrong direction,” he laughs.

He may have only just said goodbye to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, but First Dates’ Fred Sirieix already has his sights set on another top reality TV show. Having first appeared on Channel 4’s First Dates as a maître d'hôtel back in 2013, Fred has become a familiar face on the show and has subsequently starred in shows including Celebrity Gogglebox, the Ultimate Wedding Planner and Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip. And while the 51 year old is keen on being part of First Date for “as long as it carries on for”, Fred has revealed that he’d like to do other TV, having recently appeared in the I’m A Celeb jungle where he became the third star to leave camp.

The show, however, is in early development, with no script and contracts yet to be negotiated.As shown in Netflix’s new report of viewing figures, Wednesday was the fourth most-watched show on the platform in the first six months of 2023, racking up over 507million hours viewed globally.The show was renewed for a second season back in January.
