Businesses have spoken of their frustration after a burst water main burst left a high street flooded. Locals say water began gushing down the centre of Denton in Tameside at around 7am this morning.
The source of the leak appears to be outside Cafe Plus on Stockport Road at the Crown Point junction. It has seen a stream of water running down Manchester Road, which contains a number of different businesses, for a number of hours now.
Pedestrians are having to wade through puddles with cars sending spray flying across the high street.

A number of businesses have told the Manchester Evening News water has got into their premises and damaged stock and that they are now worried about the effect on their trade.
Repairs are underway, United Utilities said.
Hakan Denir, co-owner at Cafe Plus said: “I got here at 8.30am all of our fridges, stock, and more are flooded and ruined. The water is coming up the steps now.
“We’ve had to close the cafe. More than £50,000-worth of equipment and stock is now useless to us. We don’t know how long it will take us to recover from this.
"The electrics are gone. We’re just cleaning and trying to brush the water out of the shop, but if they don’t stop the flooding in the next two hours that water in the basement will have risen to the shop.
"We could be closed for a month or longer - we’re helpless in this situation."
Aime Harthorn, 33, owner of M34 Mobility said: “It’s been going on since 7am. I’ve been in this building three years and brought my livelihood with me. This basement is a workshop - each of these scooters are from £400 upwards - the parts worth even more.
